Executive Summary
Daifuku Oceania, a leading provider of material handling solutions across the aviation and intralogistics industries, recognised that its legacy systems were limiting visibility, consistency, and operational efficiency across the business. Prior to IFS Cloud, information was managed across multiple systems, spreadsheets and manual processes, creating challenges around consistency, reporting, and visibility.
Working together as implementation partners, Daifuku Oceania and InfoConsulting ANZ replaced multiple disconnected systems with a single enterprise platform supporting finance, procurement, supply chain, projects, and other core business functions. While the organisation continues to mature its use of the platform, it has already established more consistent processes, improved visibility across the business, and created a strong foundation for ongoing continuous improvement.
While the implementation replaced a number of disconnected systems, the primary objective was to establish a single enterprise platform capable of supporting standardised business processes, stronger governance, increased visibility, and ongoing digital transformation across the organisation.
Challenge
Disconnected Systems and Fragmented Processes
Before implementing IFS Cloud, Daifuku Oceania was operating across several disconnected legacy systems, with information spread between different applications, spreadsheets, and email-based processes. This fragmented environment resulted in duplicated effort, inconsistent master data, and limited visibility across the organisation. Some business processes required information to be maintained across multiple systems and repositories, resulting in additional administration effort.
Limited Visibility and Data Consistency
Beyond the technology itself, Daifuku Oceania recognised that inconsistent business processes and poor data quality were making it difficult to establish a single, reliable view of business performance. Duplicated customer, supplier and asset records, combined with varying operational practices across the organisation, impacted reporting accuracy and decision-making.
Preparing for Future Growth
Daifuku Oceania’s goal was not simply to replace legacy software. The organisation wanted to establish a modern enterprise platform that would provide a single source of truth, support consistent business processes and create a foundation for future integrations, automation and stronger data governance. This would give Daifuku Oceania greater flexibility to continue developing its digital capabilities as the business and its operational requirements evolved.
Solution
Selecting IFS Cloud
Daifuku Oceania selected IFS Cloud to replace multiple disconnected systems with a single enterprise platform supporting finance, procurement, supply chain, projects, and other core business functions. The cloud-based platform offered lower infrastructure management requirements, strong security and compliance capabilities, and a modern architecture that could support future integrations as the business evolved.
Partnering with InfoConsulting ANZ
Following a competitive RFP process, Daifuku Oceania selected InfoConsulting ANZ based on its extensive IFS implementation experience, their presence in the growing APAC and South East Asia market, established partnership with IFS and strong understanding of business processes. Throughout the project, InfoConsulting ANZ worked closely with Daifuku Oceania’s internal teams, sharing responsibility for solution design, configuration, testing, and delivery.
A Structured Implementation Approach
Daifuku Oceania commenced its IFS Cloud transformation in April 2024, beginning with a pre-study and solution design phase before formally launching the implementation program later that year. The implementation followed the IFS Qualification Gate methodology, providing clear project governance, defined milestones, and regular checkpoints throughout the delivery lifecycle. Following go-live, InfoConsulting ANZ continued supporting Daifuku Oceania through ongoing aftercare, issue resolution and knowledge transfer as the organisation continued to build capability and maturity.
Results and Impact
A Single Source of Truth
One of the most significant outcomes has been establishing a single enterprise platform supporting key business processes. Teams now work from the same information, replacing many of the disconnected systems and manual workarounds that previously existed.
Improved Process Consistency and Governance
IFS Cloud has helped Daifuku Oceania establish more consistent business processes across departments and locations. Standardised workflows and stronger governance have improved consistency across operational and financial activities while providing greater visibility into business performance.
A Foundation for Future Transformation
Beyond replacing legacy applications, IFS Cloud has established the enterprise platform foundation Daifuku Oceania needs to support future integrations, automation initiatives, stronger data governance and consistent business processes across the organisation. As Daifuku Oceania continues to mature its use of the platform, this foundation provides the flexibility to expand its digital capabilities, increase user adoption and process maturity, and support long-term operational growth.
Lessons Learned
Treat ERP as Business Transformation
One of Daifuku Oceania’s biggest learnings was recognising that ERP implementation is fundamentally a business transformation project rather than simply an IT initiative. Technology enables change, but long-term success depends on redesigning business processes and bringing people along the journey.
Invest in Change Management Early
Looking back, Phil believes organisations should invest in change management, user adoption, and data quality from the outset. Breaking the transformation into manageable stages helped Daifuku Oceania build confidence across the business while improving adoption over time.
Partnership Drives Long-Term Success
Phil credits the collaborative partnership between Daifuku Oceania and InfoConsulting ANZ as an important factor throughout the implementation. Strong governance, ongoing support, and knowledge transfer enabled Daifuku Oceania to build internal capability while laying the foundations for continued optimisation.
“Daifuku Oceania approached this project as more than an ERP implementation – it was a business transformation designed to establish a strong foundation for the future. It has been a pleasure working alongside Phil and the wider Daifuku Oceania team, whose commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement has been key to the project’s success. We’re proud to continue supporting Daifuku Oceania as they build on that foundation and realise even greater value from IFS Cloud.”
